Avatar Residential Detoxification Center (ARDC) in Ringwood, New Jersey has generously provided matching funds to co-sponsor the Institute on Religion in an Age of Science (IRAS) Conference, Spiritual Experience: A Scientific, Philosophical and Theological Retreat, to be held June 22–29, 2025 on Star Island, NH.

Avatar was founded in 2021 by Pinal Patel, with a vision of providing unique addiction and mental health services highlighting spiritual principles in its treatment programs. It is a NJ Licensed and Joint Commission accredited program providing acute inpatient detoxification and extended residential treatment services. Newly opened services extend a continuity of care with a residence-associated daily Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and traditional Outpatient (OP) programs.
The Avatar MISSION is to provide reliable and high-quality treatment for adults who have substance use disorder and co-occurring disorders. Our mission is to engage individuals in an environment that fosters healing from the disease of addiction in a dignified, holistic manner. We want our clients to leave with an unforgettable experience that empowers them to enjoy life in long-term recovery.
The Avatar VISION is to serve our community, helping reduce the stigma associated with addiction and co-occurring disorders. We believe in treating the root cause of the addiction and providing supportive services for individuals and families so that they can get the resources they need to flourish. We strive to maintain the highest standards of care by continuously improving and evolving our services to meet and exceed our clients’ needs.
It's Wellness Approach brings together the Mind, Body, Spirit Connection with a variety of Holistic treatment programs with evidence-based conventional therapies to provide the best long-term outcome for drug and alcohol addiction. Spiritual non-denominational principles build the framework to heal mind, body, and spirit with a Clinical Team of experienced medical and clinical specialists selected due to their extensive knowledge and expertise in the rehabilitation industry.
Addiction, including alcohol and substance use disorders, is a complex biopsychosocial problem with a deeply spiritual foundation as it frequently relates to injury and trauma to the “spirit” and “soul” of experience with a loss of faith in self, others and even the life process. The Avatar treatment approach founded on spiritual principles consistent with the 12 Steps of Alcoholics/ Narcotics Anonymous has no religious denomination affiliation but recognizes and honors all religious faith traditions. It is designed to repair injury to, and empower self-worth and dignity as part of opening a natural healing spiritual core that is universal.
